First of all, before using for the first time, wash your utensil with soap and hot water, using a sponge or soft brush, rinse thoroughly and dry completely.

When cooking, avoid preheating without a load, as this may damage the enamel. Always add a little fat; this will protect the enamel and prevent your food from sticking.

Enameled cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly, so there's no need to use high temperatures which, once again, risk damaging the enamel. Low to medium heat settings are recommended for most cooking operations. Oven baking is possible, but make sure that the temperature does not exceed the recommended limit for the lid knob (see article on knobs).

Finally, to avoid any scratches, we recommend using wooden, silicone or heat-resistant plastic accessories, but metal should be avoided!

Once you've finished cooking, watch out for thermal shock! Beware of sudden temperature changes. Never immerse a hot casserole in cold water, as this can cause cracks in the enamel. Allow your product to cool before washing or placing in the fridge.

Once it has cooled, clean gently. Although Le Creuset products are technically dishwasher-safe, frequent washing can dull the shine of the enamel; however, don't worry, this won't affect its quality, only its aesthetics. So it's best to wash them by hand to preserve their appearance, and only use the dishwasher occasionally.

In the event of stubborn residues, don't scrub too hard or use abrasive products, but soak in lukewarm soapy water for a while before scrubbing gently.

Before storing your product, always make sure it's completely dry, and leave the lid slightly open to allow air circulation and avoid odors or humidity inside.

Proper care and use not only guarantees optimal culinary performance, but also prolongs the life of your precious utensil. With these tips, you can enjoy the benefits of Le Creuset enameled cast iron for many years to come!
